“Invention of Cuba Libre
A Cuba Libre is the drink that celebrated the end of war and oppression in Cuba. The drink is light , delicious and timeless. Its simple drink and inexpensive. In an era where gin and vodka rules, the traditional rum, cola and lime has never lost its charm.
The cocktail invented in the early 20th century in Cuba, after the country won independence in the Spanish- American War.
Its exactly origin is not certain, As per sayings the “Cuba libre” is more old back to the mid 19th century, when Cubans adopted the FREE CUBA cause while they fought independence from Spain. During the War ( 1868-1878), soilders sipped a drink which they called Cuba Libre, a mix of honey or molasses , water and rum. It became popular shortly after 1900, when bottled coca cola was first imported into Cuba from the United States.
Popular rum brand Bacardi also mention the Spanish-American War as the birth of the rum and coke, when an American captain walked into a bar in Old Havana and ordered rum and Coca-Cola over ice with a wedge of lime. It was a on the spot hit, and everyone in the bar began to say ” Por Cuba Libre” in celebration of Cuba’s new freedom.”
“ Recipe of Cuba Libre“
- Bacardi – 50 ml
- Coca cola – 100 ml
- Lime wedges- 2
“Steps
1. Fill a high ball glass with ice.
2. Squeeze 2 lime wedges over the ice and add them into the glass.
3. Pour Bacardi rum into the glass and then pour chilled coca cola.
4. Then stir gently.
5. Garnish it with lime.,
